Meet Our School Chaplaincy Team 2016-2017
Friday 7th October
Today we had our first team meeting.
We thought about why we wanted to become a Chaplaincy Team member and how we can help our school community through this role.
Autumn Term 2015
Friday 11th September 2015
School Chaplaincy Team (SCT) members met to discuss their role within the school.
Each child was given a copy of their job description.
Children worked with Miss Harrington to create a SCT board, so everyone knows who there are and what their jobs entail.
Friday 25th September 2015
SCT members met to discuss writing a school prayer. SCT decided that our school Mission Statement should be used to help us write the prayer. The children wrote a beautiful prayer and will be preparing copies for each class in the school.
Monday 28th September 2015
SCT members held a whole school assembly where they introduced themselves and told others about their roles.
The SCT led the school in saying our new school prayer.
Thursday 8th October 2015
KS2 SCT supported Miss Harrington in delivering an assembly on The Liturgy of the Word, where resources were shared with the Infants and the juniors.
Friday 9th October 2015
The SCT met to discuss how we could develop the Catholic Life of our School. They were asked to think about an area we could revive. The SCT decided the Peace Garden could be developed to make it a special place to encourage prayer.
Friday 23rd October 2015
The SCT met to continue work on developing the Peace Garden. They decided that they would like to focus on the word Peace, as it’s a Peace Garden, to encourage God’s creation to flourish there and to create a large focal point.
Actions:
Miss Harrington to buy items that will encourage animals and insects to visit our Peace Garden.
SCT to design a mosaic that will show that we are a Catholic school and that we need to care for God’s world.
To think further about how we can decorate our Peace Garden.
Friday 13th November 2015
Children have completed their designs for the Peace Garden mosaic. They spent their lunchtime breaks to do this with the Student Council.
We discussed what we liked about the designs before giving them to Mrs Flatley.
Friday 27th November 2015
The SCT helped with preparing the symbols to be put on our school Jesse Tree during Lent. They then looked through the World Gifts catalogue to decide which gifts each class will be raising money to buy during Advent.Wednesday 2nd March 2016
Today members of our school Chaplaincy Team attended a very special Mass at Westminster Cathedral to mark the Year of Mercy. Over 900 pupils from Catholic schools across the Diocese attended the Mass which was celebrated by Archbishop Vincent Nichols.
Thank you to our children who attended the Mass, you were amazing ambassadors of Blessed Sacrament School!
Monday 7th March 2016
